Election Day and More

So I got up this morning charged with the plan of stopping by our little country church to cast my vote and drive on into work. When I turned the corner I saw the parking lot and realized I might need to resort to Plan B. It was full! I went on in to check it out and there was a line out the door, well almost anyway. I went ahead and got in line to see if I would have time to vote but alas. There was only one voting machine and the line was too long. So, I came on into work and will go by after work.

I thought about calling my boss and telling him that I would be a few minutes late because I was already there and stuff but since my cellphone is a piece of crap and I can't see what the heck I am doing I changed my mind. **sigh**

They say every vote counts and I do believe that. I imagine Obama's "Toot" is looking down on her grandson being a proud Grandmother. I know how she feels.

Today is my father's birthday. I never can keep up with how old he would have been, that is my So's job. I am sure he will let us all know. I miss him.

2 words--early voting!

I am told that is not offered in Kentucky. I don't really understand why though.

Oh, and thanks for the little blogger award. I will do my thang when I get home!

Next time do the vote by mail thing, sooo much less stress and you can relax and do it at home. That what I used to do before I knew about early voting. I didn't even know Cali did it until this year and I'm not even in that state anymore. Again, I'm slow like that. Bets have it but the next time this happens early voting will be available everywhere!

I mailed in my ballot which is convenient, but I miss the excitement of being with other voters, and seeing the retirees from our community that I've known for years that volunteer to run the voting booths. So sad about Obama's grandma. But I guess she has a better view from where she is. It will be interesting to see this whole thing in hindsight, 20 years down the road. The unknown is kinda scarey.

I waited in line when we could vote 'early-and-often'. I prefer waiting in line--yeah, I know, that's odd, Steve!--the mini-excitement of meeting neighbors ya never see, and the political talking, etc. Each segment of line is like a small 'family' for 15 minutes or more. I LIKE THAT!

The reclusive 'me' did not used to like that...

It's nice that you remember your dad's birthday. I do the same with both my parents. After work may even be longer to wait. I think that it's worth it though.

He would have been 86 today. I see where KY reports first as the polls close at 6PM. I remember when KY used to be a blue state. Well, actually I think that was before they assigned colors, but you know what I mean.
