Saturday with Joe

Today Joe and I had a nice relaxing Saturday morning. We just took it easy and didn't get in any hurry. We had some errands to run in town and managed to get going about 11am. My sister-in-law, Cindy, lost her father this week. He lived in Mobile, Alabama which made things really hard for her being so far away. She visited every chance she got but it had to be hard. She and her husband Morris, were expected home around 3pm. Joe mentioned wanting to get a plant at a florist and leave it, along with a nice card, on their front porch so she would see it as soon as she got home.

We went into town to a couple of florists and just about fell over when we looked at the price. I wasn't surprised just disgusted. I mean, we didn't want delivery, just a nice plant. I told Joe that this was ridiculous and that we just needed to go to Walmart and get one there. I told him that we should be able to find a nice plant (I wanted to get a fairly large one) for a decent price then buy a nice planter and fix it up for her. So that is what we did. We found a really nice one for $9.00. Also bought potting soil and a nice card for her. Then we went across the street to Lowe's to find a pot. I found a nice sturdy plastic one for $15. We bought that and got on the road to their house to finish the task. I must say that after we potted the plant and put it on the porch it was beautiful! We watered it then placed the card in the branches. I think she will be most pleased when she gets home.

We went on to have lunch at Burger King (I had coupons, hell I always have coupons!). He has gone to a buddy's house for a while and I am enjoying the serenity of a house with only me and the pups.

So as I sit in my comfortable house with the windows wide open chatting with So I am feeling good. I am thankful to have a loving husband, a comfortable home, a good job, family that I adore and always always my pups and horses.

Life is good.......real good.

Sounds like very nice Saturday! I agree with you on the florists prices, they are obscene and I do not even bother going into them. Highway robbery! Nothing wrong with making up a nice set yourself plus you get the bonus of putting your hands in the dirt yourself and I love that.

My kind of day. It's the small things that make all the difference in our lives

Thanks for sharing and reminding us what's important.

How very thoughtful of you. I bet the florists were gouging everyone, seeing how it is sweetest day, or as I like to call it, another stupid holiday invented by greeting card companies and jewelery stores to make people shop! Want to let you know, you are in my prayers, also. That sounds like a wonderful day!
