This girl just wanted to have fun....and WIN!

And win she did. There have been 52 fillies in the Preakness since it started in the late 1800's. Only 4 have won........until Saturday. Rachel Alexandra is her name and running is her game. She was the heavy favorite and obviously for good reason. It didn't take her long after the starting gate to take the lead and should to the boys "Scoot over boys, let me show you how it's done!"

It was a thrilling race. Is is just me or is horse racing getting more exciting the past couple of years? The racing world has really suffered for a long time. No triple crown winners since 1978 and there won't be one this year either. I would have loved to have seen this filly in the Derby. WOW! Now that's exciting.

She was great. She is the only one I would have wanted to beat Mine That Bird. I think he might have caught her if he hadn't been blocked a bit and had more time. Calvin Borel claims this filly is awesome, the best in the world. Wouldn't it be interesting to do a match race between her and mine that bird? You know, they used to do that back in the old days....or at least, in the Black Stallion movie, LOL!

Both races were very exciting. I just love the jockey that won too, so down to earth.

Gotta love the filly that can beat the boys! I was rooting for the filly and Mine That Bird. Yes, for some reason, horse racing has gotten more exciting in the last few years!

Have you thought about being a jockey in next year's races?
That would really be exciting for all of us.

Bill, I have always wanted to be a jockey. But somehow I think it might be a tad late for me. Have you ever seen one in person? They are so short and tiny!

I just hope that she stays sound and doesn't break down in a race.
