Thanks to all

After I went by the nursery last week I stopped by a local funeral home. My parents funerals were held there in 1999. Outside is a Veteran's Memorial Garden.

There are many bricks with names on them. I remember when Dad's was first installed. His last name was misspelled. I notified them and it was corrected.

I noticed another familiar name while I was there.

I knew this man for my entire life. All of these folks have families and loved ones they left behind.

As I stood there I looked at many many bricks. I thought of all of the stories they could tell. Times they had while serving their country and protecting our freedom.

I love the flag there. It's so majestic.

I have so much to be thankful for. Especially you Dad. Thanks for you.

i went to a graveyard today, but not for the same reason as you.

it's interesting to me that your daddy's born and died dates are double numbers, 1922-1999

My town has a very old cemetery. I love looking at the old headstones, and wondering about the lives of the people.

Although they spelled his first name correctly as he used it since he entered the Army, he was actually born Stephen. When he and his buddies were enlisting they misspelled his first name, and instead of having them correct it and miss being sent off with his friends, he left the spelling as it was. Thus the spelling of my own first name.

I don't know where this memorial is. Didn't even know there was one there.

So, it's right outside the funeral home. The one where their services were. When the first brick was installed they had the last name as Woodward.

My dad lied about his age when he joined the Navy, so all of his official records are incorrect. Plus, his first name was Layton, and his new Navy buddies weren't having any of that so they renamed him "Hank," which remained his nickname throughout his life.

Thanks for sharing these nice photos!
