Boo Hoo

It looks like our geese family has moved. We saw them yesterday morning but have not seen them since. I think it might be because of the turtles in the pond. We have way too many turtles, many of them are those mean snapping ones too. If anyone knows a good way to get rid of them please let me know!

But there are other babies in Kansas. For example

Aren't they the sweetest things? I just stuck the camera up and hoped for the best.

As soon as they sensed the camera they poked their heads up with their mouths wide open. It didn't take them long to realize I was not their mama and they went back down into the nest.

Then there are these

We have tons of Kildeer around our house. These eggs will be gone overnight when the babies are hatched. I guess they are like horses or calves in that they have to be able to move just after being born.

There are 2 birdhouses with families in them as well. But none are as fun as the little geese family. I hope they come back.

Wow, those eggs actually survive long enough to hatch just laying on the ground? Resilient bird....

I hope that the geese are okay. It's the time for hatching of babies.

It's doubtful if the geese will come back, especially if you have turtles. They are notorious for getting baby goslings.

Great pictures.

That is so sad your geese left! Loved the pictures of the babies! At first, I wasn't sure what I should be looking for, than I noticed their beaks! So cute!

When we lived on the river, we had Harliqin ducks that mated for life and returned every Spring. We loved to watch them with their babies go up and down the river. Hope you see yours again. Keep us posted.

Have you found the Golden Egg that one of the geese may have left?

Cute birdie pics! In our yard we're anxiously awaiting the appearance of the bunny family that inevitably turns up each year.
