TGIF!

IMG_5171

Awwwwwwwwww, the weekend is near. I am sure most if all of you would agree that this has been quite a week. What with Ike interrupting everyone's lives (some still with no power -- Hi So!) and the damage scattered from the coast of Texas to Canada. It is a time, at least for me, to have a nice and relaxing weekend. Stephanie will go to her Dad's tomorrow and my Abby is coming for the entire weekend! I will pick up the bundle of joy after work today. Beth (her mommy) called last night and told Joe "Dad HELP! I need a break!" Of course we were very happy to oblige and keep the little darling. I mean what kind of grandparents would we be to say no? ha ha

That of course means my Abby will be the star of my blog for a few days. Like you didn't know. Oh how I wish we could keep the twins also. I miss them so much. They are 8 1/2 hours away and it might as well be 250 hours cause I don't know when in the world we will see them again.

I am starting to have a few minor problems with my vehicle and realize that it is time to think about trading and getting a new one. I wanted to ask my blogger friends this question. If you needed to buy a vehicle what kinds would you consider? I have not bought a new vehicle since I bought my 99 Camry in 1999. What is out there that gets good gas mileage, is dependable and will last another 10 years?

Toyota Prius hybrid. My mechanic recommends any Toyota. Jim got a Matrix and he loves it. Susan just bought a Hyundai Sonata, it has a 10 year/100,000 mile warranty and all oil changes are free. There are lots of incentives out there right now. I would, however, probably buy a dealer loaner. There is a substantial depreciation after you drive any new car off the lot.

I hesitate to buy a hybrid now. I am wondering if they will be greatly improved in the next couple of years. The resale might not be very good.

I bought a Toyota RAV4 3 years ago and I love it to death. It is a great car to drive, has AWD, and serves as a semi-ranch vehicle because there's a lot of room in the back. It was a little pricey, but it's a tight, well-made car and seems like it will do 7 more years easily.

I hope this recommendation works out as well for you as your camera recommendation has for me.

So long as it is not new & Abby appoves of it, it will be OK.

My vote: RAV4. Check Consunmer Reports at the library. That mag gives DETAILS. Also you can read it online for less than hard copy.

HAPPY weeklend to y'all!

I'd get an Edsel.

Or a Hupmobile.

Great picture. We have a 2003 RAV4 with about 75,000 miles on it and not one second's problem - ever.

Dan

Toyota, I don't bother with a hybrid. It takes too long to get back the extra money you'll be paying for it. Toyota or Honda and you'll be good to go for another 10 years.

Wow, is that pic from your place? Beautiful.

I drive a Subaru Forester....absolutely love it. Great gas mileage, all wheel drive, it's a small suv. Comparable to the honda crv.

My parents just bought a brand new Forester and they love it as well. We've had them for years.

Dont buy a jeep cherokee. I have had problems since we bought it brand new in 2002. We are buying something new next year as well. Scott has a Honda Passport and it has never given up problems. I may look into vans or a Suburban...I know gas...but I need alot of room with kids in and out all the time. Keep us posted on what you do.
