It's a bird, it's a plane........

actually it WAS a plane. Last night Stephanie was cooking dinner when I looked out of the kitchen window and saw this

She hollered for me to grab my camera and we headed outside to see.

How cool is that? The pilot flew all over the area by and on top of my house. It was exciting.

In these shots he was flying about 30' above the corn field right next door. You can see the yellow between the trees.

You can see the roof of my house in this one. That shows you how close he was.

The horses didn't know what to think. They started running around the pasture but didn't know where to go!

It was very entertaining. I wish we could have watched more but dinner was on the stove so we came in and ate. By the way, Stephanie made a delicious dinner that she planned herself. She is growing up more and more every day.

In some places people would think that plane was some god coming after them. Imagine how terrifying that would be!

What was on the stove?

Yummy hamburger helper, fresh corn on the cob, asparagus and mexican rice (I didn't care for it with the rest of the meal but Steph loves it).

Sweet. Our little girl is growing up.

When we had cousins from Iowa visit us in Virginia Beach when I was young, they would all run outside to look up in the sky whenever an airplane flew by.

Living on a farm, surrounded by sweet corn, we get divebombed by spray planes at 6 a.m. a couple of times a week. We've learned to pretty much ignore them, along with the roosters crowing, but when we have guests, it can send them running outside in a hurry. A couple of times I've been in the bathroom when the plane sounded like it was going to hit the house and I could see the headlines in my mind, "Woman trapped in bathroom when plane hits house, survives on toilet water."

I wonder if they were crop dusting. Or just practicing getting too close to corn fields.

Crop dusters are some of the last of the barnstorming pilots. It's actually dangerous work because there's so little margin if they make a mistake or there's a sudden change in the wind direction or power.

are you running a meth lab at your house? maybe growing some wacky stuff?

i kid, i kid!

i remember the crop dusters when i was a wee lad in florida.

why are there tires on your barn?

i just bought some hamburger helper for the first time in a million years so my cheeldrens could experience what used to be a staple in our growing up.

That looks just like the one that sprays the crops here. Wonder if it's the same company? The boys hear it coming and they start yelling....little yellow plane...little yellow plane and run out the front door (reminds of Tattoo from Fantasy Island...Da plane, Da plane!). They love it and can watch it all day. See that row of sprayers under the bottom? They can actually see him do his spray thing from my mom and dad's front porch....they are both convinced that it's smoke coming out and it's going to blow up each time......little boys!!!

I love that we live in a place where this kind of thing randomly happens...and it's fun...and nobody gets scared.

It could be the same Ky girl. I told Joe about it last night and he says he has seen it several times. I loved the show he put on though by flying over our pasture and house. I like to think he did that for our entertainment!

Piglet, the tires are supposed to take some of the heat out of the barn. I doubt it works but it makes ppl ask questions. Good job. hee hee
