Geez, what next?

Have you guys read about that 4 year old kid that shot his babysitter? Apparently the 18 year old babysitter accidentally stepped on his foot so he shot him. Shot him! Grabbed a gun and shot him. I am in disbelief. What could be going on in this child's mind to think that he could just reach and get a gun and shoot? What could have happened to him or around him in his short life to think that this is ok? Can you imagine what the future holds for him?

I have noticed that a lot of people have indicated that they feel 2009 will be a really good year. I so hope they are right. This country needs a good year don't you think? I have a lot of hope for this year. There will be good things to happen and there will be bad things as well. But, in all honesty, since I have learned to live my life with gratitude it makes it a whole lot easier to get through the good and the bad. It really is amazing how it has changed my life.

So, as the days turn into weeks and months of 2009 let's all try to be thankful for what we have instead of what we don' t have. Just give it a try and see what you think. Who knows? It could just change your life forever.

I'm always the optimist. I'm hoping for good things one day at a time.

Good lord, who gives a child access to a loaded gun? The fact that he thinks it's ok to shoot a person, easily (if not sadly) understood in today's society. He's a very young child. The fact that grown adult parents gave him access to a loaded gun? Moronic and inexcusable.

I too have high high hopes fro 2009, we need a decent year. BADLY.

Yes you are right. Just be blessed.
Be content...something I so struggle with daily.

It's hard to be in fear when you submerge yourself in gratitude!

Lots of children have access to guns. That is why so many get shot by them. It's not acceptable, but that is the way it is.

TB, sad story. I hope 2009 will be overall a good year, but only God knows. All we ever have is the present and, as you've said, our best bet is to enjoy what we have in gratitude and let everything else go.

Well said, TB!!
Sad about that boy. Some kids don't know any better, because they are raised in the midst of it. They don't know right from wrong because they were never raised right to begin with. Sad state of affairs, really.

We humans cannot grasp the concept of good or bad until around the age of 8. Until that age we are copy cats or learn how our reactions to situations either serve us well or work against us.

If we are thankful for the little things that we have in our lives, the big things will seem even bigger. It's a win - win.
Prayers for Ryan.

You're so right. Focusing on what we have to be grateful for, gives us a whole new outlook on life.
