Look what I found

on Craigslist yesterday. Isn't she precious? She is 9 weeks old and her name is Tink. Short for Tinkerbell. Yes, their daughter named her and she is only 4 yrs old. This family has a 1 1/2 yr old male boxer and decided they wanted to get a puppy for their daughter. They have now found that they do not have enough time for this little pumpkin and are looking for a good home for her. Well, I think I know someone who would provide a good home.

I chatted with Carey (the daddy) last night and listened as he told me all of the above and how he just didn't know how he was going to tell his daughter. He felt he just needed to find her a home and she would be gone. At 4 yrs old that is probably the best way. Unless the 4 yr old is my precious and she would remember and continue to ask where HER puppy was.

Anyway, she is one of the pups we are considering adopting for Sophie (and for us). I will let yall know what happens next!

Cute little thing. I think that the dad needs to tell the little girl. Children are very aware.

She is adorable! I agree, he needs to figure out a way to tell her. At 4, she'll get over it quickly. Especially if she knows the puppy is at a good home and happy and well-loved. Kids are smart.

When my daughter was 3 we had to get rid of a Golden Retriever that she adored because we were moving. Five years later she still talks about "Lucy". However, I let her meet the people that ended up taking her and now Lucy lives on a huge farm. His daughter will remember!

I think that Tink is beautiful!

Tink is adorable! I agree, I think the little girl needs to know she is going to a good home. We had a cocker spaniel given to us when we were about that age, and we adored her. I just think if she knew who had her, it would ease her broken heart. Good luck!!!

By all means he should tell the little girl, and explain why, and also plan to have her go visit the pup at its new home. It's a matter of trust, even if the child forgets the specific instance, the feeling of mistrust is always there.
