Home today

Patty did great with her surgery and is on her way home this morning.

(Can you believe how long that tongue is?)

Joe and I both decided together to have her spayed. We both agree about what the next boxer we get will look like. We want a mahogany fawn with a black mask and the chances of Patty having one like that was not very good. Plus, she will be much more healthy and keep that girlish figure she has. I am excited to see her when I get home this afternoon.

There is something that I really want to write about on my blog but out of respect for my daughter I am exercising restraint of pen (keyboard?). I will have to figure this one out myself.

I finally was able to meet with a representative from Kentucky Retirement yesterday. I have worked here for almost 4 years and had yet to know much at all about my retirement options. She was a very friendly gal by the name of Holly. She explained everything very well, answered everyone's questions and even gave us some pointers to start working on to help ourselves be in a better position financially whenever retirement comes our way.

It looks like my best option is to work for another 13 years before I consider retirement. It wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear, and I do have other options, but since I love my job, love who I work with and for, have no aspirations to retire anytime soon I think it will work out well. Time will tell.....literally.

It seems like all my aunts and uncles were able to retire at 55. I'm 63 and have worked since I was 19, don't owe any money, but retirement just doesn't pencil out yet. Maybe it never will. I'm glad you're in a work place you enjoy, I am too. Along with a good family, and funny pets, it's such a blessing, isn't it?

Indeed Jan. We are still paying on our house and will have it paid off (if the sun keeps shining and the creeks don't rise) prior to my retiring. I have worked since I was 16 so actually going through w/it might be a bit hard. But I sure will love trying!

Only you would comment about that tongue. It's a good thing you did not give Patty a dictionary to read before her ride. There is one definition of FIXED that probably would make her hide.luv to you all.

Glad that Patty is doing well. I am getting more used to the idea of retiring at the end of May. Seeing that there is another $120 million shortfall for the state makes me realize that I made a good decision.
