It's been a productive weekend

I don't know where my energy came from this weekend but I sure would love to have it every day. I was able to get a lot of cleaning done, the deep cleaning that I always put off forever.

Stephanie had her friend Boni over. They really enjoy each others company. Saturday they decided to put up the Christmas tree. They really did a good job and had fun while doing it.

They got out all of the various Christmas items to decorate the house. We don't put out near as much as we used to. Also, since we will have a house full this year, including 2 precious toddlers, a lot of the stuff stayed packed away.

The girls also wrapped a lot of the presents. And what a beautiful job they did!

These two sure didn't help. Too busy sleeping.

We even had a visit from the big guy himself!

Anyone recognize this pose?

Look at Sophie trying to tell Santa that she has been a good girl. He had walked off and she was beckoning him to come back!

He came back long enough to listen to her and then he was off again

We finished the evening with a good supper of meatloaf, fresh green beans, roasted carrots and mashed potatoes. I even had enough for lunch tomorrow.

Joe and I both are really in the Christmas spirit this year. We are so excited that all of our family will be here. We can't wait!

TGIF!!!

This has been a hard week at work. I am truly glad today is Friday.

What is this I hear about the chance of snow in Houston? I heard it first from So, then on our local news and just now on the radio. It hasn't even snowed here yet! I can only imagine what the grocery stores look like right about now. Why is it that everyone has to have milk, bread and eggs before a storm comes. Are we going to make french toast? It really is funny to see. I remember one year in particular we got a big snow. The thing is that the forecasters didn't catch it and it was a surprise to everyone when we got 10" of snow overnight. I had just happened to go to the grocery the night before and stocked up on all that my little family needed. So when I woke up the next morning to no fan on, no alarm clock, no sounds at all in my little rental house, no electricity at all, I knew something was up. I looked out my front window and the ground had risen overnight. At least that is what it looked like. It was beautiful.

Ryan was out of school for an entire week and I couldn't go to work for 3 days. But we had heat and food and my trusty hurricane lantern. I remember Ryan sleeping in front of the Warm Morning heater in the living room, Steph was only 2 and slept in her crib and I slept in my bed in the same room with her. We were cozy and happy. It really was some of the happiest times I have had.

Of course nothing compares to the ice storm that we had in January of this year. But again, I was warm and cozy, happy and with my family. I didn't worry about Ryan because he was at Lifeline Ministries. So even though it was a tough time for everyone in this area, we had all that we needed.

It's funny how posting can be. I wasn't intending to write anything of this until I typed the word snow. Then the memory of those few days came back to me. I have so much to be thankful for. God has been good to me all of my life. Let's face it, God can do anything and He has always been there for me. Thanks God.

Goodness Gracious!

I swear, my job is wearing me out! I have been so busy the past few weeks. But it is good. I am glad to have plenty of work to keep me busy. Even though it seems like I can never get it all done, it feels good to figure things out, keep things straight and figure out ways to get things done better and quicker. I have always welcomed a challenge in regards to my work and lately I am getting quite a bit of it.

I noticed about a month ago that my x-husband was not paying his child support. Stephanie turned 18 in October but the support is to be paid as long as she is in high school. Since she is a senior that means he is obligated to pay through May of 2010. I finally took the time to call the local child support office today. I was able to get through almost immediately to the case worker I needed to speak with. That in itself was a miracle. She said they had not asked for the support to stop and that he was responsible for paying it. She ordered a letter to be mailed asap to him indicating pay up or you will find yourself in court. I have battled for so many years with these type of issues. I am grateful that after next May, I won't ever have any reason to deal with these type of situations again. Hopefully this issue will be cleared up without further ado.

Our weather here in west Kentucky is really starting to feel like wintertime. There is a chance of snow tomorrow, no accumulation expected. I am starting to feel the Christmas spirit. I like that. It seems that the past couple of years I have not really felt that. I am hoping that this holiday season is a good one. I have only one thing that I want for Christmas. I hope and pray that it comes true.
