TGIF!

This has been a long week for me. Last week felt the same way. It is supposed to be a glorious day in west Kentucky today. This weekend we will have rain that will come up from Texas. I wish you Texas folks would keep it down there and save it for the summer when we are in our drought.

My daughter, Stephanie, wants to go to the prom. It is in 2 weeks and I have not done the first thing to get her ready. I finally looked online at prom dresses. JCPenney has come that are nice and not so outrageous. I was pleasantly surprised. She is such a jeans and tee shirt girl I can't imagine her dressed up and in heels? She will need to have her hair done and make up. Oh my. See, I never went to the prom. I never wanted to go to the prom. The prom was the furthest thing from my teenage mind. Do they still wear flowers to dances? OK folks, I need some help. I honestly don't know!

Oh the prom is big in my house - we spend the entire day of prom at the beauty shop getting a hair-up-do ($45) and then let's not forget the make-up ($40)...the same girl that does the up-do's in our little town will do make-up too....

Yes, they do still wear flowers, usually just the wrist thingy - not the pin-on kind.

Don't forget about buying the pkg of pictures at the prom - $$$

Here let me save you the trouble of wondering about how much money to set aside - $500 should just about get you through it!

I'm sure Steph will be beautiful! Can't wait to see pictures!

Ugh, prom. I asked a surfer guy friend of mine to go with me and that was cool. He wore a tux top and black shorts. It was San Diego and you could get away with that and still look very cool.
It's stupid expensive though, JC Penny's does have a lot of cute stuff for not so outrageous, run with that!
Corsage, on the wrist. It's just easier.

I never went to prom, either. The planning seems to run the gamut at our school. Some kids do the whole eating out, limo thing. A lot of them do progressive dinners -- appetizer at one person's house, main dish at the next, then dessert. Makes so much more sense! And less cents:) It can easily get out of hand, money wise, but it doesn't have to!

I agree, JCP has always had nice styles and reasonable prices.

Know any drag queens you could borrow some stuff from?

I have no idea how much it would cost to go to the prom these days! Hope all goes well for Stephanie!

You can save money on a limo if she rides a horse to the prom.

The horse may eat the wrist corsage, however.
