Our Pond

When we bought our house the pond was already here. I have never owned a pond before. We were very excited about having one. In this picture the end closest to the driveway is the shallow end. The deep end is about 8' deep.

Shortly after moving in Joe decided to stock it. He contacted the fish man who brings baby fish into town to sell. He bought about $500 worth of babies. Catfish, crappie and bass.

We love when our family and friends come to fish. Last spring my brother and sister-in-law came over on a beautiful day to fish.

That's Morris, my brother-in-law. He is a great guy. Not too bad of a fisherman either.

That is his wife, Cindy. She's from Alabama. She talks a bit strange. What I mean by that is she calls a fly swatter a fly flapper. A minnow is a minner. You know, things like that. She is a sweet lady though and they are the perfect couple.

This is my neice Katy and her daughter McKenzie. See McKenzie's little pole? She fished also.

That is one thing that is so neat about having a pond. It's kinda like living at the lake, in a way. Some pictures I have make the pond look kind of like a lake.

It was really pretty during the ice storm we had earlier this year.

It makes a great background for pictures too.

Then we have these silly pups. They love the pond.

I just might have to take up fishing this year. I just can't stand to touch the fish. Ewwwww.

Except I HATE to fish.

I love fishing but I don't eat fish. No one in my house eats any fish, crab, seafood, etc of any sort so it's catch and release for us. I love how the dogs fully enjoy it. If we had some body of water in our yard (pool included) Jaynie would be in it 24/7 if we let him. Thinks he's a freaking labrador I swear.

We had a pond on a pc of property we owned once. Cowboy caught bass and released in his! They were pets though! Love the pictures with the snow.

What a gorgeous place to live! I'm envious.

However, I too would not fish. I just keep thinking about those poor fishies' pain...

I love being close to water - sea, lake, river, pond - anything works. We're only about a mile from the Rio Grande river so that works for me.

Nice pictures.

I wish our pond was as big as yours! I love how yours looks like a lake. Ours is pretty small, any fish we have put in there get eaten by the hawks, herons and eagles. We would like to dig it out deeper some day, the dogs love it though, just like yours!

That looks like a large pond. What keeps it filled up? Well, yeah water, but how does it stay filled? More water I know...

Never mind.

Uh, Bill.....when it rains the pond fills back up. In the dead of summer it gets pretty low.
