Drankin'
I love to watch horses drink water.
They squeeze their muzzles together and make a strange look with their mouths.
Watch out Pammy.......equine mouth alert!
Then they let some of the water run out of their mouth.
I don't know why but when I see a horse drink I stop whatever I am doing and watch. I bet that bothers them. I don't care. I watch anyway.
Jones got through before I was able to get close to her.
Look at them sharing a bowl. Awwwww, they must be in love.
Just so you know, a horse will stop anything they are doing in order to eat some grain. They live for grain.

Watch out for the blue haired large black woman!!
Cause she's cashing bogus payroll checks in town. That was what I heard on the news this morning. It is hard to believe sometimes how ignorant people can be. She and her entourage of 2-3 athletic black guys are running around town. Don't I feel safe?
So many people want the easy way. They think the world owes them for whatever reason. When I was growing up and starting to work everyone went to work everyday. We gave our best to our employeer in exchange for a fair wage. I didn't really make a lot of money, minimun wage plus a nickel, but it was enough to pay for my gas, car and little things that teenagers want. All of my friends worked. We continued to work after graduation and into our adulthood. It's not that way anymore and I don't like it.
My son is a perfect example. He called me yesterday morning as I was rushing to get out of the house to get to my job in time because they depend on me to be there, and was whining about not having enough gas to get to the farm where he has been working. His auto insurance was due that day and blah blah blah. I just told him flat out that I couldn't help him. That we have helped him so much in the past and it was time for him to man-up and deal with it. Now mind you, he wasn't always this way. He used to work 2 jobs in fact. He was one of the teens that was different. He worked and worked hard. He put out 150% every day he went to work. I don't get it. I don't know what happened. I have struggled with this for a number of years and have yet to figure it out. Except when I hear crap like what I heard on the news this morning. People want the easy way.

Monday Monday
Today is Monday. In a LARGE way it is Monday. I had such trouble getting to sleep again last night. I have cut way back on caffeine but perhaps to cut it out all together. Oh how I love my caffeine though! The alarm clock went off really early, or so it seemed. But I did like I always do and got up and to work early.
This weekend was a deadly one for our local lakes. Three people drowned while fishing. The winds were high this weekend and I don't know if that had to do with one of the accidents that killed two but it is suspected. The other one forgot to take up his anchor when attempting to go to another fishing spot and got caught up in the rope. That is an awful way to die. A local hero tried to save him but wasn't able to. He was cut up by the motor and had to undergo surgery at a local hospital. Very sad indeed. A blogger friend of mine has lost her sister-in-law. It seems she had suffered with depression for years. Her vehicle was found not far from a local bridge over the Tennessee river and she has not been heard from since. It is very sad and my prayers continue for my friend. You can visit her blog here if you'd like. She needs lots of thoughts and prayers.

The ride was great
but I am silly. I had been riding for a while when Jones and I came upon a neighbor's 4 horses that just loved looking at my mare. Silly boys. I thought "this would make a great picture" so I pulled out my Sony point and shoot and turned it on. The only thing is that it didn't turn on. That would be because I didn't bother to check to make sure there were batteries in it. UGH! How silly of me. But that is so very typical of me. I do such silly things sometimes.
I did however have a great ride on Jones. I didn't, however, have such a good time getting on her. You see, she hasn't really been ridden a lot in her life. She was used as a brood mare and a lesson horse by the previous owners. When she gave rides she did so inside a round pen and she was not in good health. She had never been shod, given vaccinations and obviously was not fed well. Within 2 months of us bringing her home she gained at least 75lbs. I would say that she now is 150lbs heavier than the day we bought her. Plus she is getting used to being shod, is wormed regularly, is given her vaccinations and is fed well. In fact my babies are spoiled rotten. Why just today they grazed in a pasture with fresh grown grass for 30 minutes. Then they had 2 ears of field corn a piece and when I went to saddle her they both had a fresh carrot. I got off subject, sorry. I started out talking about how hard it was to mount her. Like I said, she has not been ridden a lot. She had not been ridden since last fall. She has never been fond of being mounted, in fact when I first got her and saddled her I had to take my sweet time because she was scared of the blanket and the saddle. A friend of Joe's happened to pull up when I was trying to get on her and poor Joe was doing his best to hold her. Keep in mind he is still skittish about horses when then try to invade his space. It frightens him and I understand that. Butch, the friend that pulled up has been around horses a bit so he was able to help. After numerous attempts of trying to get on her I finally asked Butch to get on. He did and he rode around for about 30 minutes.
And Dakota went nuts!
What in the world makes horses act like this? Every time one of them leaves the pasture the other one runs around and neighs and acts so silly.
Hey Mom............where is my girl?
There she is. Here he goes again. He just can't stand it!
Where oh where did my little mare go, oh where oh where can she be????
That picture is my new wallpaper.
Maybe if I nicker loud enough she will at least answer me.
No such luck Dakota. She could care less about you right now. She is busy toting Joe's friend around the farm.
He never stopped. As far as I know anyway. Butch finally got off and I got on and had a great ride. I rode about 1 1/2 hours. I didn't get too far from the house since she had not been ridden in a while. I heard Dakota neighing over and over again. Jones never even paid attention to him. I did go and visit a neighbor horse. His parents were not home but boy do I wish that camera had batteries in it. He is one of the most beautiful boys I have seen. White with lots of brown patches. He nickered a lot too. He was alone in the pasure. No one was at home so I hope that Lynn was riding the black gelding that they own, or at least used to own. He was a great horse and I hope nothing happened to him. I haven't talked to them since last summer so I don't know. If I don't see them I will ask my farrier since he shoes both of our equines.
Joe and I went to supper tonight at a place in Mayfield called Catfish Corner. Oh wow........catfish fiddlers, white beans, hush puppies, cole slaw (creamy like I like it) baked potato and onion rings and sweet tea to drink. Yummy stuff.
I have had a very blessed and wonderful day. I was able to be outside for a long time, soaking in the sunshine. It was a beautiful day and I loved every minute of it. Tomorrow should be just as nice. I don't know if I will ride again though. My back is bothering me a bit. Not only did I ride but I swept basically the entire house. There is something about using a broom and sweeping that just kills my back. But I couldn't stand the dust bunnies anymore. My husband isn't a very good housekeeper.
I have said it a million times and I will say it again. I love my life and I have so very much to be grateful for.

TGIF!
This week has been a tough one for me. I am so looking forward to the weekend. I know one thing I am going to do. That is ride this sweetie
Look, she's already getting warmed up. She is sporting new shoes and needs to be ridden. And I need to ride! I get so much joy and serenity when it's just me, my horse and nature. Awwwww, only a horse lover knows what I mean.
This weekend promises to be a gorgeous one and I intend to take full advantage of it. I just wish Steph was going to be home to ride with me. I love riding with her.
Oh dear, there I am again with that thick neck and crazy hat. I love the hat, I just look like crap with a hat on, always have. But it serves a purpose when it's hot out.
I will try to remember my trusty point and shoot Sony camera and take some pics. I can't imagine what the woods will look like after the ice storm we had in late January. Maybe I will meet up with my neighbors who love to ride too. That would be fantastic!
Yall have a great day and an even better weekend.

UGH!
I am having one of the worst days I have had in a long time. It seems that I can't do anything right. Whatever I do it is right, or good enough or fast enough. I feel like walking out of the damned door and not looking back. As it is I will stick it out as I know that a lot of it is me. I have been very emotional and hormonal for the past 2 days. I have people here at work that have my back and I need to remember that.
This too shall pass.
This too shall pass.

It Must be a Full Moon!
Because I just gave what-for to a coworker in New Jersey. He's really not a coworker but rather the owner of a company that we do business with. He hates working with women and is very condescending when he talks to me so I let him know. I also let a few other people know. But he's a Yankee so what can I expect? I am over it now and back to work......with decent people.
With that said, what makes people talk to other people like they are less than them? What makes them think they can talk however they want and people won't react? I feel sorry for the sweet girl I usually deal with in the office. She is as good as gold but jobs are hard to come by there. She and I work great together but she is out sick with the flu. Poor baby. Oh how I long for her to come back!
Anyway, on to better things. That guy isn't even worth my time to write about. I am so thankful for my job. I work with folks I like, make decent money for this area and have great benefits. I think that I will just ponder that item and be grateful. Yes, that's what I will do.
Let's everyone have a great day and be nice to each other. A smile and/or wave to a stranger goes a long way.

Awwwwww Quilters in Paducah
They're baaaaaaaaack! We welcome them for the 25th year. The quilters come from all over the world, literally. It is amazing to me how many quilters flock our fair city. Usually over 30,000! It is great for the economy. All of us citizens go out of our way to be nice which isn't hard to do since we for the most part are naturally outgoing and friendly. You have to watch on the one way streets though. I used to work right on Broadway and more than once saw a car going the wrong way on a one way street during Quilters week.
This week is also Professionals Day. It used to be called Secretary's Day. It always made it hard to find a restaurant that Wednesday when my boss took us for lunch but we always had a great time. I don't get that anymore where I work. No big deal to me though. I just looked on my calendar and Wednesday is Earth Day. But for all you clerical folks out there...Happy Professionals Day.
Steph found a pair of heels yesterday along with a clutch and panty hose. Now all we need are some fancy earrings and she'll be set! I was glad that I went ahead and took her. I didn't feel well but her smile made it well worth it.
What are you guys doing today?

Sickly Sunday
My husband gave me his sickness. Damnit Janet. But it's not too bad. Basically a cold but not fun mind you. I think what bothers me the most is the night time coughing. It is a dry hacking cough that makes my throat hurt a lot. Plus when I blow my nose it seems to come from way up inside my head. Sorry...but it does! I am however, glad that I am a non-smoker. I can't imagine what it would be like if I was still smoking. I slept so long last night I woke up with a bad backache. It is better now since I am up and stretching it.
I have been taking an over the counter cold medicine, the kind you have to show your drivers license to get and it has been helping but I decided to not take it today and try to get some of the stuff' out of my nasal cavities. So far I have kept the box of Kleenex close by.
It has been a restful weekend for me. I haven't done much of anything since I haven't felt well. Joe did take Stephanie to the mall yesterday. He needed to buy a new chainsaw at Sears so they went together to look for a prom dress. They want to Penny's, then Dillards where they found a beautiful cream and black dress that looks gorgeous on Steph. She won't let me post pictures before the prom because she says her boyfriend might sneak and see it! Silly girl. But what a relief to have found one. Plus it was only $80!!!!! All we have to do now is shoes, hair and tanning to get rid of her redneck tan.
I hope everyone is having a great Sunday. Take care!
**Update** Even though I don't really feel like it I have decided to go ahead and take Steph shoe shopping. I found out she really wanted me to take her and it means a lot to my baby. Hopefully we will find the perfect pair quickly!

Today is Happy Birthday Day
Today is my dear Mother's birthday. She would have been 83 today. We lost her in 1999. She was such a great mother. The kind of mother children dream of having. Annie is named after her....Annie Betty Jo Bunny. Her name is Betty Jo and her nickname was Bunny. Dad gave her that nickname on their first date. She only ate a salad, no doubt being shy, and he gave it to her. She was called Bunny for the rest of her life. My cousins called her Aunt Bunny. I miss her very much.
It is also my dear husband's 57th birthday.
He received cards from me and Stephanie this morning. Plus he wanted a new fishing pole and I found just what he wanted.
Happy Birthday JoJo. We love you!

TGIF!
This has been a long week for me. Last week felt the same way. It is supposed to be a glorious day in west Kentucky today. This weekend we will have rain that will come up from Texas. I wish you Texas folks would keep it down there and save it for the summer when we are in our drought.
My daughter, Stephanie, wants to go to the prom. It is in 2 weeks and I have not done the first thing to get her ready. I finally looked online at prom dresses. JCPenney has come that are nice and not so outrageous. I was pleasantly surprised. She is such a jeans and tee shirt girl I can't imagine her dressed up and in heels? She will need to have her hair done and make up. Oh my. See, I never went to the prom. I never wanted to go to the prom. The prom was the furthest thing from my teenage mind. Do they still wear flowers to dances? OK folks, I need some help. I honestly don't know!

Our Pond
When we bought our house the pond was already here. I have never owned a pond before. We were very excited about having one. In this picture the end closest to the driveway is the shallow end. The deep end is about 8' deep.
Shortly after moving in Joe decided to stock it. He contacted the fish man who brings baby fish into town to sell. He bought about $500 worth of babies. Catfish, crappie and bass.
We love when our family and friends come to fish. Last spring my brother and sister-in-law came over on a beautiful day to fish.
That's Morris, my brother-in-law. He is a great guy. Not too bad of a fisherman either.
That is his wife, Cindy. She's from Alabama. She talks a bit strange. What I mean by that is she calls a fly swatter a fly flapper. A minnow is a minner. You know, things like that. She is a sweet lady though and they are the perfect couple.
This is my neice Katy and her daughter McKenzie. See McKenzie's little pole? She fished also.
That is one thing that is so neat about having a pond. It's kinda like living at the lake, in a way. Some pictures I have make the pond look kind of like a lake.
It was really pretty during the ice storm we had earlier this year.
It makes a great background for pictures too.
Then we have these silly pups. They love the pond.
I just might have to take up fishing this year. I just can't stand to touch the fish. Ewwwww.
