After we left The Nature Center we drove back across the dam to a swimming area. Steph and Abby wanted to get in for a while. This is a public beach that used to be very popular but since cutbacks have inflicted the state, as well as others, there are no longer any lifeguards on site. Joe and I watched from the grassy area while the girls swam a while.
This guy and his dog had a great time. He would throw the orange toy and puppy jumped into the lake to retrieve it.
Before long it was time to go.
We went down the road to Maggie's Jungle Golf where they also have animals and golf carts to rent. We rented one and took off.
There is my silly hat!
We bought bags of grain to feed all of the animals.
There was a sign by this camel that said to not hand feed or get too close. The camel had adapted great to that and simply opened his mouth for us to throw the corn in!
It was quite a sight.
Goats everywhere. They just hopped into the golf cart.
This had a sign saying Billy Goat's Gruff.
Peacocks had their run of the place.
Minature horses, ponies, llamas and donkeys.
And this beauty
It would have taken a lot to get me away from this area when I was Abby's age!
What am I saying? It took a lot to get me away that day!
Animals everywhere!
Numerous birds in here. Quail, morning doves and such.
This was the look we got when it was time to go.
We drove to Draffenville and ate dinner at The Ponderosa. We were starving!
I didn't ever get any good pictures of Steph's hat. Hers was a shark. Abby pulled it's teeth out on the way home. We were so tired we didn't get a picture of all of us. The next day Stephanie took Joe, Abby and mine's picture just before we took her home.
Now, isn't that a silly bunch of people? But this silly bunch of people had a weekend we will never forget.

What a wonderful Grandma and Grandpa! made me all sentimental remembering all the wonderful adventures my grandparents took me on as a child! They never wore silly hats though...
I like to see all the photos of the animals. I'm sure that everyone was entranced by them.
I have some friends who say they don't want children. I wonder what they'll do when they're our age? If you wear a silly hat with no grandkid in tow, you'll look pretty strange. Just add one cute kid, though, and we can have great fun. You've got the formula, and with more grandkids on the way you'll have a ticket to fun times for quite a while. Thanks for sharing the pics, the peacock photo really made me miss my Rudy.
Now that's what I call a perfect day. What a kids delight! For kids of all ages. You are such a cool grandma.
Oh that looks like so much fun. I would have loved that when I was younger! Heck, I would have loved that now!!!!
That's quite a place, especially for kids...like Trailboss.
Ok, you have made we me want to go and take the kids again! We're planning on going in a couple of weeks when my husband can get off call. I have some friends coming to visit the second week of August, we might just wait and go then so they can join in the fun. I bet that water was chilly with the low night temps we had last week!
Didja go through Possum Trot?
I love that last picture! Bunch of silly gooses! Or geese!
Great hats and a fun time for all.
Thanks for sharing.
Dan
What a lovely way to end the day! That place looks like a lot of fun too! The animals are so great, love how the goats are everywhere! I bet Abby had fun feeding them all.
I love the way you share all your picutes. You're all nuts, but then that's the way familys should be. Nuts, love and happy times. What a recipe. Keep on mixing it up.
What a fun place to take Abby! I love going to places like that.
What fun!!! Love the hats. Did the camel spit at you? They're so bad about that. I remember when the beach was a busy place. It makes me a little sad to see it so bare now. I had to laugh when you mentioned the Ponderosa. I don't think we've ever actually planned to eat there. We always just end up there when we're starved and need a place to eat quickly. Ha!
Sounds like alot of fun....we havent done Magiies yet..but I plan on it....soon.
I dont go to the lake anymore..we do the pool. But our lakes are so pretty to look at.
