This was the morning that Joe stayed at a friend's house. He had been out late the night before trying to score a generator. Things didn't work out with the first deal so he arranged another deal. That one worked, thanks to our nephew who works at Lowe's in Murray, Ky. Thanks Luke!
The girls and I went down to the road to see if Joe could make it home with the generator in tow.
I don't know..........it doesn't look like anything will be driving through that soon huh?
It doesn't look any better the other way either.
Look out Sophie!!! That limb is about to fall!
Meanwhile the pond was a winter wonderland. Look at the MockingBird sitting atop the pond!
You can see just how thick the ice was in this picture.
The horses were wet and literally shivering.
Joe opened up the other side of the barn where there was fresh dry hay and they savored that.
Annie is trying to figure out why the Maple tree looks so strange.
It looks like an ice cave doesn't it?
This is the next day checking on the horses. The girls decided they wanted to eat some of the ice.
Yes it was trying, yes it was cold. There were a few times worse than others but we made it. The entire community made it. Some are still without power. I hope and pray they are able to get it back soon. But there is good news that comes from this event. Not only does it make everyone sit up and take notice that we all need to be better prepared, just think of all the little babies that will fill the nurseries at the hospitals in 9 months! I think all of the boys should be named Vanilla Ice..........ice ice baby!

Beautiful pictures, all of that ice is really unbelievable! We don't get anything like that around here so seeing it really puts it in perspective. Anything in the forecast about a thaw on the way?
I hope you and the horsies are warm and cozy!
PG, It has all thawed and this weekend it is supposed to be in the high 50's. Crazy weather is what it is!
Oh, I am so glad to see you are back to the powered life. And to read of your gratitude is wonderful.
Well, let's HOPE those babies don't rap!!! Seriously!
I LIKE the weather we are having now!! Wonder how soon before we get a whole new type of weather? If you don't like the weather in KY, just wait an hour.
Oh My Goodness ! I love your Boxer Babies...the photos of the ice are spectacular, but the puppy dogs make the post !
Thanks for visiting today.
We have kiddos who live in Kentucky. Guess we better check on them.

I Love Your Girls! Looks like they are having so much fun.
Scott and I said the same thing on the babies being born in 9 months..lol....wasnt anything else to do now was there?
Amazing photos. I hope that you'll not have to deal with another ice storm any time soon.
My daughter & son in law got their power back last week. But they are hanging onto the generator for the future, since this is their 2nd week long outage in 6 months in Louisville. Great pics, lady!
Amazing pictures! That looks like the freak ice storm we had here in Montreal a few years ago. Mama went outside and whacked the ice off the birch tree which was literally weighted down with ice so that it was lying on the ground. In two hours it was straight up again!
And yes, there WILL be a whole bunch of babies born in nine months; that's exactly what happened here too.
Please come over to my blog when you can. I could use some Boxer advice.
xoxo

Beautiful photos - but all that ice my gosh, the trees are going to be different come spring. We are expecting ice storm today in northern MN.
The dogs look very wary of that frozen tree.
Thanks for the pics!
I so feel your pain. Dec of 2006 we had a huge blizzard. Our area had 4 feet of snow with 60 mph winds. We were without electricity for 5 days. But my uncle who lives 60 miles east of us had an ice storm instead of the snow we got. The ice on the high lines was as thick as a baseball bat. He was without power for almost 2 months. Just miles and miles of downed power lines. Luckily he only lost 4 calves. There was some of his neighbors that lost 30+ cows and calves.
