This morning when I put my glass of diet cola on the roof of my car to open the door the glass started sliding back at me. My car was covered in ice. I let it warm up about 10 minutes before I took off. I was very careful on the roads since it was dark and who knew if they had ice on them.
I didn't have any trouble getting to work but once I got here the radio station started talking about all of the accidents everywhere! It seems there was black ice on the roads and folks didn't see it until it was too late. Even my co-worker's wife spun around 6 times when her truck hit some. I think I would have had to go home and change my britches after that one!
Yesterday morning a 30 year old mother and her 4 year old were killed. The vehicle she was driving somehow left the road and hit a tree and the car burnt up. What a horrible way to die.
We just never know what we face every day. Yet another reason to live life with gratitude for what we have and not what we don't have. Be thankful for every day we have on this Earth because we never know when it could be our last day.
It has taken me many many years to realize this. But I am thankful I have and continue to.
Be safe.

I'm glad you got to work safely. It has been scary out there!
Black ice is the worst you are on it before you know it . Glad you are safe.
Do you ever drive off with the coke on top of the car? I do that a lot;(
Reminders are a necessity for me to apprecaite life.
Oh man, I hate black ice. I'd rather drive in the snow than in black ice. Appreciate every day, I learned that when I had that aneurysm. Nothing like brain surgery and 3 days of death watch for a reality check! Next time call in sick. You may be able to drive in black ice safely but everyone else? I don't trust 'em.
I'm glad that we seldom have ice here. Occasionally, we'll get an ice storm but they are rare. Sad about the mother and her child being killed. You never know...
The girl and her daughter who died yesterday...I had their insurance when i sold. I remember when the daughter was born. So sad.
You haven't seen anything til you've seen a Canadian winter - the storm we are having right now would have you shrieking! Once you learn how to drive here you can drive anywhere, in any weather... but do be careful!

That's why I like New Mexico. We rarely ever have ice where I live. Even the snow doesn't last that long on the road once the sun comes out.
Be careful out there.

I am glad you made it to work okay. I read your blogg everyday. You and your family are in my prayers. Be safe.
How sad, it really does make you think. We go to work and make our little plans, and still you never know. How terrible for the family. Glad you made it in safely.
Be careful B!
