Just a bit early!

Our girls got a Christmas present just a wee bit early. They sure did enjoy them too. I guess there is nothing like a good ole pig ear to make one's day.

After Sophie realized she was not going to get her sister's treat she finally settled down to eat hers.

You can see some of the spots on Annie in this shot. She has one above her right eye too.

They finished them right up and wanted more, of course. But no more for today.

Sometimes it is so hard to realize that just over a month ago Annie was doing this

and now she mostly sleeps and rests. But this is normal, after all, she has cancer. Joe and I have already touched on the subject of Sophie and how she will be so lost once her sister isn't here any longer. She has never know anything else. Annie was there the day she came to live with us and I really think Sophie looks at Annie like her mother. I had already had thought of when and what will we do so when Joe mentioned it yesterday I was prepared. We both are very saddened about all of it but we have accepted it for what it is. We have turned it over to God and both find great comfort in that. After all, it is part of owing a pet. Life and death....it happens to us all. Just some earlier than expected.

Trailboss,
my heart goes out to you and your family.
A friend of mine is going through the dying of one of her Golden Retrievers to kidney failure. It is very hard for her. She is doing her best to let Lucie live her end days without pain or suffering.
Yes, as pet owners, will all will face this but, never easy.
My best to you !

Oh piggy ears, their fav! I can't let mine have them, their boxer bellies can't take it. Anne is still interested in eating though so she may not be feeling like a hyper boxer but she is still feeling ok. This is good,
much love to her and you guys too!

Maybe I'll try gnawing on a pig ear. Does it matter whether it's attached to the pig or not?

Hug your dogs everyone. Pig ears look like a real treat. How is Annie feeling?

She seems to be feeling ok. Doesn't appear to be in pain. Her appetite is still very good so that is a great sign that she is feeling good. She lies around a lot but you can't blame her for that. When I come home from work she still lays her precious ears back and smiles at me.

I love crackling chewy pigskins. Haven't had any in quite a long time. Best to keep it that way.

I'm so sorry. I can just cry for you.

I'm sure you've seen the previews for Marley and Me. I am reading the book and I just love it. I'm not even half way through and I've cried a few times and laughed even more. Which is what happens when you're an owner of a pet. If you have time it's a short book and anyone who has animals would understand what those people went through.
