Downtown

I left work early today to prepare for a test tomorrow but before I left the city I went downtown and took some pictures to share with you. One of the main reasons I wanted to go was to get some pictures of our new ice skating rink located smack downtown on the parking lot of the Farmer's Market.

I wasn't impressed. To me it looks like an above ground swimming pool that has been frozen. But, to be honest it is made to be put up and taken down in January and after all, it will probably help to attract shoppers to the downtown area.

What do you think? Oh, here is some flowers next to the skating rink that are still blooming. I love fresh flowers.

Here are some more of the downtown area.

This is a nice gazebo where horse-drawn carriage rides are offered during the summer.

This is 2nd street on the other side of the Market House. Note the cobblestone road. Those are original, and very bumpy. But I don't mind, I love it.

Here's a picture of the Ohio River. Dang that water looks blue.

When was the last time you saw a red caboose?

I love our downtown area. So much history is there. We have an artist relocation project that has brought talented people from all over the country to our fair city. They are offered an old home for a cheap price in return for the promise to restore it to its former charm and beauty. That makes for an awesome neighborhood full of great homes, galleries and shops. It is really quite remarkable. You all should come and visit

I love your downtown photos. What beautiful cobblestone streets. And the Ohio River, a placid and gorgeous river and a national treasure! You live a very pretty part of this great country.

I am leaving this second comment.

Those pictures look like Paducah.

Great pictures. Having lived in Loveland, Ohio, just outside of Cincinnati, I'm very familiar with the Ohio River. Living now in New Mexico I wish we had just half of the water that flows down the Ohio.

Wahl, Ah'm a Cincinnati boy, born and raised on a farm west of town. Used to live on a houseboat (my 12-ton 32-foot scow). Played in Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (violin).

And that town in your photos looks like Louisville to me. The Ohio was never so blue in Cinti.

But THIS I want to know. You invited people to come there and enjoy it, etc., but ya do not say where in Ky it IS. Hmmmmm. Guess you didn't really mean it?

Sorry, I didn't really mean to sound rude--just tired...and everything is in place, where it is supposed to be,I guess, I guess!

You did a great job girl. I loved it. I did a post on our town last September.....I enjoyed this very much. We do live a nice town...and proud of it.

Your town looks lovely. The sign outside the theater says DO NOT ENTER, but other than that, everything looks quite inviting.

This is a good reminder that I need to take more pictures of my city.

And, lest I forget:
HAPPY BURFDAY!!!

I like the historic look of the town. Really nice with the cobblestones. I live near an historic city and it's always a treat to go "downtown".

Happy Birthday to you!!!

Alkyseltzer, these are pictures of Paducah, Kentucky.

Syd, it is a very historic town. Our downtown area is really great.

The Ohio is NEVER that blue, believe me. It is usually pretty gay looking.

It looked gay when I was there!
