Awwwwww Quilters in Paducah

They're baaaaaaaaack! We welcome them for the 25th year. The quilters come from all over the world, literally. It is amazing to me how many quilters flock our fair city. Usually over 30,000! It is great for the economy. All of us citizens go out of our way to be nice which isn't hard to do since we for the most part are naturally outgoing and friendly. You have to watch on the one way streets though. I used to work right on Broadway and more than once saw a car going the wrong way on a one way street during Quilters week.

This week is also Professionals Day. It used to be called Secretary's Day. It always made it hard to find a restaurant that Wednesday when my boss took us for lunch but we always had a great time. I don't get that anymore where I work. No big deal to me though. I just looked on my calendar and Wednesday is Earth Day. But for all you clerical folks out there...Happy Professionals Day.

Steph found a pair of heels yesterday along with a clutch and panty hose. Now all we need are some fancy earrings and she'll be set! I was glad that I went ahead and took her. I didn't feel well but her smile made it well worth it.

What are you guys doing today?

BUying chicken on sale, sending some mail, making Shepherd's Pie for dinner, and applying for some jobs. Oh, and getting more donations for my fundraiser this weekend. Whew! I need to lie down...

Working. Dull huh? I am a quilter btw, and lemme tall ya, those quilters travel far and wide to get in a group and quilt together. My mil is a fanatic and pumps out like 4 baby quilts a month along with the larger ones she makes. She has a book of all the quilt stores in America and she travels to go to these places. No town is too small as long as it have a quilt store for her to shop at! She has 1 room in her house devoted to quilting and it has so many shelves of fabric it looks like a quilt store.
Sadly I no longer have the time but I have all of the equipment. If I wanted to sit down and make on I don't think I'd even have to go buy fabric, my stash is embarassing....

I'm working today, nasty deadlines. BUT I read your blog first and now I'm thinking fondly of Kentucky. For 4 years I took California 4-H teams to Louisville for national competition. All of us loved Kentucky, the kids hated to leave. Nice place, nice folks. We did some traveling in the neighboring states too, but nothing compared to your state.

Someone you know in Houston can probably help with the earbobs.

Betty is a quilter and she would love being there.

I've never understood having a day for something. If it's important you should make it a priority every day. Oh well. I guess I'm just out of step.
