Secretariat that is. Joe, Steph and I went to the matinee yesterday afternoon. I figured it would be a good movie and one that I would really enjoy. But what I didn't expect was just how good it was. It was funny, intense, thrilling and ever so exciting! Joe loved it. I loved it and I assume Steph loved it. She said she liked it....you know how teenagers are. This is one movie that I will buy when the DVD comes out. It was that good.
We stopped by Tractor Supply for dog food and sweet feed, then by the store for chili block. Joe made chili for dinner. It was most delicious. We had a really good day with the three of us. One little family just doing their thing on a Saturday. And I liked it.

How sweet it is!
We have a new toy.
How cool is that???? We were so tired of the electric golf cart that was always losing its charge. The last time it happened to me I parked it and stormed into the house with fire in my eyes (not really, I am being dramatic) and barked to Joe 'I AM SO D*#%ED TIRED OF THAT GOLF CART I COULD SPIT!" I just left it there never to be ridden again by me. Well, that isn't exactly true. I did ride it a couple more times but the entire time I rode it I didn't stop until I was back at the porch parking it.
Last Friday Joe called me and asked me to meet him in Lone Oak at the golf cart store. He had found what he thought would be a perfect little number for us. After I finished at my wonderful Sleep Source (my best friends now!) I stopped by to take a gander at what he was talking about. It was cute. Really cute. It was gas, it was red and it was EXPENSIVE! But the main thing that I didn't like was that it was too small. I wanted to be able to take as many of my grandbabies with me when we go for fun golf cart rides. After all, someday they will be a lot bigger than they are now. I know I know....I can't believe it either but we have to keep it real right?
After the nice salesman (Royce) heard more of what we really wanted we wandered outside to look at some more. We definitely wanted gas. No more electric for us! He showed us one that was a one owner from a couple that lived locally and used as an actual golf cart to play golf! Imagine that. It had a good price but it still wasn't big enough for me. Royce went on to say that a back seat could be added for X amount of money. I then asked him about the small tear in the seat and he quickly told me that he could recover that for a minimal amount of money. What you see is what we ended up with. I could not believe it when I saw it. Everything about it is exactly what I wanted. I can't wait to take it down the road this weekend with camera in hand.
Now all I need are my grandbabies to come see us. Heck, I can't even get Beth to bring Abby and Leah to see us. I don't know what I'm going to do! But, until then we will have a lot of fun on this ride without having to worry about the batteries dying.
Anyone want to buy a used golf cart???

Big ole' fish!
My almost brother-in-law caught a whopper bass in our pond last week.
It ended up measuring about 22". Joe let him take it home for dinner that night. More than likely it was one of the first babies from when the pond was stocked soon after we moved in 6 yrs ago. He caught it as he was reeling in a MUCH smaller bass. The big bass decided the little bass looked like a good snack so it bit and Lynn reeled it onto the bank. He didn't even hook it! Talk about luck.
I have never had bass. I hear it is some mighty fine eating and would love to try it sometimes. That is if I could ever get my husband to actually go fishing in the pond. Some crappie and bass, even some catfish sounds pretty good right about now. Our pond is in desperate need of fishing out. The catfish are HUGE! We have had such a drought this year it is really low. We might get a bit of rain this week but not near what we need in order to replenish the pond levels. I think I am going to remind my husband that he needs to bring home the "bacon" this week. Even though we have stayed far away from fried foods for the past couple of years some fresh caught fish sounds very yummy.
We bought another golf cart this week. I am so excited! We have an electric one that isn't cutting the mustard. I can't depend on it to run up and down the roads with my camera in hand. I have missed taking pictures and am ready to capture some of the beautiful fall weather around our place. We bought a gas cart and had another seat put on the rear. That way there is plenty of room for when our grandkids are there to go for many many rides. The gentleman we dealt with was such a great and honest guy. I would recommend his place to anyone looking for a good and honest deal. Apparently he charges us less for some items because I kept talking about how the grandkids will need this and the grandkids will need that. He is a grandpa himself so he took special care to really fix us up. I really appreciate that. Now, if I could just get some grandkids to Kansas I'll be a happy camper!
