Anyone Home?

Sophie at door
Hello?? Anyone home??
I love this picture of Sophie. I hope you can see her face. You'll need to look way past the "dog kisses" on the glass. I really do try to keep the glass on our doors clean but it is like a dog chasing its tail, pardon the pun. Sophie is an excellent guard dog. She barks when a leaf blows or a bird comes to look in the glass door. Then there is always the times the evil grass moves ever so slightly. She alerts us to all things that move or make noises outside.

In our master bathroom there is a large mirror that hangs over the double sinks. The girls love to follow me to the potty. I guess they are still amazed at how we do our business. Anyway, I taught Sophie a trick that is starting to get annoying now. I taught her to jump up, see herself in the mirror then bark like there's no tomorrow. Now she does it every time she goes in there. When she barks Annie starts in and they must go see what is going on. She is a smart dog but apparently not smart enough to know she is barking at herself. But then, when a blade of grass is getting aggressive she certainly lets us know about it!

The "B" Word

Who wants to volunteer to impersonate me for the next, oh, say 3 years? I know I tested my parents when I was growing up but do I have to pay for it now? Apparently I do because my 16 yr old daughter is t.e.s.t.i.n.g. me big time. She is, of course, totally in love with her first real boyfriend. They have been "going out" for about 4 months now and she knows everything so any words of wisdom I might have for her are completely dismissed as corny, old fashioned, stupid not to mention a waste of time in her opinion. She and I could not get on the same page last night. Her boyfriend has broken up with her and she keeps defending him. Now I am hip enough not to try and belittle him because I know what will happen, he becomes even more what she needs and I am more stupid.

I knew in 1991 that I wanted a daughter. I was thrilled to learn I was pregnant and immediately knew it was a girl. In October she was born. She has been great, fun, exciting and a buddy to me all of her life until................................................until B O Y S came into her life. The dreaded "b" word and I am not talking about bitch. Oh no, not bitches but B O Y S. Yes B O Y S. Why do they have to be here? Why can't our daughters just grow up to be 24 or so before the males have to come into their world? Wouldn't life be so much simpler? Wouldn't we all be happier, us females anyway? Why can't B O Y S grow up somewhere else besides right beside our daughters? The only exception to this would be if the B O Y was a gay B O Y. In that case our daughters would actually benefit from them. After all I grew up with my best friend being a gay B O Y and I turned out OK.

Well, that's it, I'm writing the President and having this changed. Oh wait, silly me, if I were to write our current president he would probably think it was a chain letter or something.

Alas, back to square one.
