Hello, it's me

I haven't had much to blog about lately. Plus, after staring at a computer for 8 hrs every day at work it is usually the last thing I want to do when I get home. I have missed it though. I have some new pictures of the girls and the grandkids but my silly flickr is acting up on my even sillier computer. I fear the computer is about to die, a quick death. We'll see.

I am at work and really shouldn't be doing what I am doing but I'm doing it anyway. I know.....bad blogger = bad employee. I really don't believe that though. I think everyone should be able to have some time for themselves on a Monday morning at work. At least I don't have a job where I have to wear a headset and answer calls from customers. I have done way too much customer service work in my life. I am grateful for the job I have now and the fact that I feel very sure that I will be able to retire from here. There are a lot of things I am grateful for.

Abby started kindergarten last week. Tell me it cannot be. Wasn't it just last week that she was curly headed and calling me Graaaaaaaaaaaaaaandmother? Blowing bubbles and riding her tricycle? Just learning to use the big girl potty? Sitting in my lap and cuddling with me? Well, actually she still does that. I think she will always do that if I have anything to do with it. But of course it wasn't just yesterday. The kiddos are all growing up like they are supposed to.

Leah is walking (she has been for a while now). She has the most gorgeous smile and she absolutely loves everyone. She came out Tuesday evening while Beth and Thomas took Abby to the movies. I picked her up after work and brought her to the country where she belongs. We had a grand time. I have to brag on Patty too. She was so good around her. We were afraid she would get too jumpy and accidentally knock Leah down but she didn't. She knew Leah is a toddler and behaved so well. We were so proud of her. Sophie of course is an old hand at kids. She did wonderful as well.

Our Ohio grandkids are thriving. Mia and Auby are their usual silly selves. We haven't been able to get online for a while now to see/chat with them and I miss that. Emmeline is growing like a weed and we are not able to see that either. I hate that they live so dang far away. I can honestly say that I would give up my pastures and my Jones if they would build a house and live on our property. I keep hoping it will happen, someday perhaps. Jeremy recently got another promotion and I couldn't be prouder. Amy is enjoying her job very much. I just wish they could enjoy their jobs here. I put that in God's hands. He can make it happen. (((Pssssst.....PLEASE LORD!)))

It is still so hot around these parts that it makes it almost unbearable to be outside. Actual air temps in the triple digits. A/C has been our best friend for a while now. The barn and lean-to are Jones' best friends. That and nice cold clean water. But we are trudging along and making it just fine. We are in good health and have our family. We are lucky. There are far too many people with neither of those.

It's so hard to see those beautiful babies grow up. First our own, then the grandkids. (DOn't have any of the latter, but someday.)

I'm glad you've had a nice summer!

I was happy to see a new post from you! When I saw it on my sidebar, that old song that goes "she'll be comin' around the mountain when she comes" popped into my head. Do you remember that one? I used to love singing that at the top of my lungs when I was little.
The heat has been unbelievable this summer, and there ain't a thing we can do about it except lay low. Hang in there. Autumn's on its way.

Yesterday I boiled some eggs. I emptied the hot water out of the pan, then ran cold water over them. It was supposed to be cold water, but the water out of the faucet is so warm it's incredible. It's just not right!

Believe me it has been hot here and steamy. I am ready for some fall temps. Glad that all is going well there.
